Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The curriculum focuses on honing life skills, creativity and communication skills. The children are also engaged in a variety of activity-based learning while ensuring that they develop emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Overview
At Surefoot International School, we understand the significance of early childhood education in laying a strong foundation for future learning. Our Early Years program is designed to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children aged 3 to 5 years. Through a blend of British and Nigerian curriculums, our experienced teachers foster a love for learning, encourage curiosity, and develop essential skills that prepare our young learners for their educational journey ahead. The Key elements to our pedagogy are as follows:
- A Unique Child – every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
- Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
- Enabling Environments – the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
- Learning and Development – children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
These four guiding themes work together to underpin effective practice in the delivery of the
EYFS.
